Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmaster Fundamentals Training Event

Scout Leaders,

The Piedmont Council will once again be conducting Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Training. We are pleased to be offering this well-received program and look forward to working with you and your adult leadership to help them complete this program.

As you may know, in order for a scoutmaster or an assistant scoutmaster to be considered fully trained, he/she must complete:

1. "This Is Scouting," an hour-long on-line course offered through the national BSA website. (This program replaces New Leader Essentials.) New leaders will have to register at "MyScouting", utilizing their membership number, found on their registration card.

2. Scoutmaster Training, Part I: Troop Organization and related, offered on Sunday, Oct. 3, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and,

3. Scoutmaster Training, Part II: Introduction to Outdoor Skills for Adult Leaders, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16-17 at Chabot Regional Park.

The attached flyer and registration form provide further details. The cost for the program is $30.

New leaders should also take the on-line Youth Protection Training. The course takes about an hour. At the conclusion, leaders should be sure to print the certificate of completion (or they will have to take the course again).

Advance registration is required by October 1. We need a minimum of six trainees in order to conduct the course.

Please be sure to pass this along to scouters interested in taking on a greater degree of involvement in their son's scouting program.

Please feel free to send e-mail with questions.
