Piedmont Fencing Crew

For many years, the Piedmont Recreation Department has organized fencing lessons and activities for elementary school students. In a partnership typical of this small town, the Recreation Department and Scout Council joined forces. As students continue in their fencing interests beyond elementary school, they seamlessly join the Council’s program advised by Bill Cracraft. With their footwork, attack and parry skills improved through practice and competition, fencers gain the concentration, strategy, and balance skills for which this sport is so well-known. Some then join the very competitive programs in the Bay Area.
