All kindergarten-5th grade speed racers and creative designers are encouraged to design and build a racecar to compete for victory or a design award! Piedmont Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts are teaming up to share in the fun of this Piedmont tradition, started in 1957, but you don’t need to be a Scout to participate. Invite your friends to participate with you!

Building Workshops
The Piedmont Council, BSA will be hosting building workshops assisted by veteran builders, complete with tools and helpful tips to get your car in racing form. All are welcome. For locations and to register for time slots, contact us or check the Cub Scout event calendar.

Practice Race
Take advantage of the chance to PRACTICE before the official competition on the preceding Saturday, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, at the Piedmont Community Church Gymnasium. Don’t miss this chance to work out the kinks!

Supplies
Are you already a Cub Scout? Contact your Pack’s Pinewood Derby coordinator for your car. If not, stop by the Piedmont Council Office at 10 Highland Way if you need to purchase a car kit.

And don’t forget the Piedmont Council office has supplies for sale: weights, wheels, axle guards, skins and Pinewood Derby kits. Also, for more decorative items check out your local Michael’s Craft store.

How to Register
Cub Scouts will be registered through their Den. IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY A CUB SCOUT, come by the Piedmont Council office to pick up your car. The event is $10.00 for anyone who is not registered as a Cub Scout.

Volunteer to help!
Sign ups will be available in 2019.

Cub Scout Pinewood Derby Race:

Please check in at least 15 minutes before race time!
Saturday February 2, 2019
9:00 am: Kindergarten & 1st Graders
10:15 am: 2nd Graders
11:30 am: 3rd Graders
12:45 pm: 4th and 5th Graders

Girl Scout Pinewood Derby Race:
Saturday February 2, 2019
3:00 pm- 6:00 pm: Grades 1st-5th
